Having Your Photoshoot on a Farm

There’s something special about being on a farm, the smell of fresh hay, the sound of the wind moving through the fields, and the laughter that carries across open space. It’s not just a location; it’s a feeling. A reminder to slow down, breathe, and take in life’s simple, beautiful moments.

On the farm, there’s no rush. No pressure to pose perfectly. Just space to be yourselves, to laugh, explore, and make memories that will one day be the stories you look back on.

Maybe it’s because I live this life every day, feeding cows, muddy boots and all, that I see the beauty in it even more. The joy in the chaos, the calm in the work, the love that grows right alongside the crops.

This 100+ acre farm, located in Jeffersonville, New York, is surrounded by the rolling Catskill Mountains. It’s home to two herds of cows and endless open skies. The possibilities here are endless, whether the sky is bright blue with big fluffy clouds or moody and overcast as the sun hides away. Each kind of day brings its own kind of magic. Even when the light is soft and the sky turns gray, the fields transform into something deep, dramatic, and beautiful.

There’s a special kind of peace that comes with walking through a tall grass hayfield that hasn’t been cut yet. The way the grass whispers and flows in the wind, moving like ocean waves when the light reflects off it. Running your hand through it as your little one looks up at you while you carry them through the roaring hayfield is a moment that stays with you. It’s real. It’s raw. And it’s everything I love to capture.

Then there are the round bales. To most people, they’re just hay. But to me, they’re the circles of food that feed my cattle through the long winter months. The round bale my son climbs on, believing he’s Superman. The same bale a couple leaned against before sharing a kiss as the sun dipped behind the hills.

Every round bale holds a memory, a piece of love, and a little bit of life lived right here on this land.

Being a boy mom myself, I know how much energy little ones have. I know that feeling of them wanting to run, be chased, and feel free.

There’s a certain kind of magic that happens when kids are allowed to be free, when they can run through one of our 20-acre fields, burning off energy, laughing, and just being kids. It’s a stress-free environment where their true personalities shine, and those are the moments that make the most heartfelt images.

When you come to the farm for your photoshoot, you’re not just stepping onto a backdrop, you’re stepping into a little piece of my world. A place where moments unfold naturally, where kids can be kids, and where your family’s love story shines in the most honest way.

Let’s make your session one to remember, real, heartfelt, and full of life.
