What To Wear To Your Photo Session.

What to wear to your photo session can sometimes be stressful. That's why I am here to help make this easy for you and your family.

Coordinate, Don't Match:

Instead of everyone wearing the exact same outfit, opt for coordinating colors.

Choose a color palette that complements each other, such as earth tones, or a mix of neutrals.

Consider the Location:

Think about the setting of the photo session. If it's outdoors, consider the season and choose colors that work well with the natural surroundings.

Avoid Busy Patterns:

  • Large, distracting patterns or logos can draw attention away from the faces in the photos. Opt for solid colors or subtle patterns that don't clash.

Dress for the Season:

  • Wear clothing appropriate for the season. Lighter fabrics and colors for spring and summer, and warmer, layered outfits for fall and winter. You can always take off layers if too warm, but its's always good to bring extra in case its cold, especially during winter.

  • Comfort is Key:

  • Make sure everyone is comfortable in their outfits, especially children. Uncomfortable clothing can lead to fidgeting and discomfort during the session. I no joke had my husband wear a brown carhartt sweatshirt for two sessions. He was comfortable and happy, and the pictures turned out amazing.

  • Avoid Neon Colors:

  • Bright, neon colors can be distracting and may not photograph well. Stick to more muted and softer tones. My husband wears safety green all the time, and it does not photograph well trust me.

  • Check the Background:

  • If you know the background or backdrop of the photos, choose colors that contrast nicely with it. You want your family to stand out in the pictures. Ex. If you have a winter session and there is snow it's best not to wear white as you will blend in with the background. When Spring comes everything is bright green so it's probably a good idea not wear like greens during spring sessions.

  • Plan Ahead:

  • Coordinate the outfits a few days before the session to ensure everyone has what they need and that the overall look is cohesive.

  • You don't have to wear a dress

  • Photos sessions are fun so lets make the getting ready process easy for you and your love ones.

Check The Temperature

  • I can't control the weather so, know the expected temperature for the day of the photo session. Dress appropriately for the weather to keep everyone comfortable. Layers are a good option for varying temperatures throughout the day.

Footwear

This may sound silly, but foot wear does matter, what you wear on your feet will be in the photo. Remember to consider the terrain of the photo session location and any specific activities involved when selecting footwear. Ultimately, the goal is to choose shoes that complement the overall style and theme of the photo session while keeping everyone comfortable and confident.

I hope this info has helped you and your family make picking out outfits for your session to be stress free. I want you to be comfortable, and be able to enjoy the session. I can't wait to photograph you and capture special moments.
